First year MFA student Katie Small gave a live painting performance at First Friday Art Walk October 2nd, 2009. She was "live painting" outside the Louis Pohl Gallery at 1111 Nuuanu Ave Honolulu HI. Working in rhythm to the concurrent musical performance of Out of the Blue, Katie painted from 6 to 10 pm, creating the art work pictured left. To add to the whole performance element Katie set up a video camera and projected her act of painting onto the wall of the gallery above her. Throughout the night there was much interest and inquiry to Katie Small about her art work. Katie hopes that this live painting performance will be the first of many here in Hawaii.
