The exhibition presents the first survey of Bromley's work, spanning four decades of her career from early intaglio prints of the 1970s and large-scale screenprints of the 1980s, to more recent works combining screenprinting with mixed media techniques and installations completed this year. Bromley served as Chair of the Printmaking Program at UHM from 1983 to her retirement in 2000

The Netshed at Alderbrook Station is uniquely situated where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean. In this site specific installation, Mary Babcock and Christopher Curtin used cloth and gillnets to create an environment where we find ourselves under the surface of the water as river currents meet ocean tides.

Gaye Chan at CREATIVE TIME, NYC

Gaye Chan (faculty) and Nandita Sharma, as co-founders of EATING IN PUBLIC have been invited to present at the CREATIVE TIME SUMMIT : REVOLUTIONS IN PUBLIC PRACTICE (Oct 9-10) in New York City, a two-day conference that brings more than forty cultural producers together to discuss how their work engages pressing issues affecting our world. Their international projects bring to the table a vast array of practices and methodologies that engage with the canvas of everyday life. The participants range from art world luminaries to those purposefully obscure, providing a glimpse into an evolving community concerned with the political implications of socially engaged art. The Creative Time Summit is meant to be an opportunity to not only uncover the tensions that such a global form of working presents, but also to provide opportunities for new coalitions and sympathetic affinities. Accompanying the Summit will be the bestowal of the second annual Leonore Annenberg Prize for Art and Social Change. This year, the recipient is Rick Lowe, who is being recognized for his groundbreaking Project Row Houses in Houston—a non-profit founded in 1993 and comprised of artist residencies, low-income housing, a gallery, park, and more—which has become a model for the integration of the arts into a neighborhood infrastructure.

ARTCLUB at Kmart

Four artists (including 3 alums Fae Yamaguchi, Corinne Kamiya, Maika'i Tubbs) compete in ARTCLUB, an art reality show at Kmart sat. 8/14. Each will be given 60 minutes to choose $25 worth of supplies and material and have two hours to create a work of art. Shoppers in the store will judge and vote on their favorites and the winner will be chosen based on technical execution, use of materials, concept and visual impact.

Art 351 projects at Design Within Reach - Ala Moana

Design Within Reach - Honolulu is featuring tables designed and fabricated by students of David Landry's summer session Art 351 (Utilitarian Sculpture) class. You are invited for a viewing of the tables along with a panel of judges from the local design community. The winners will be announced at the end of the evening.
